Villaricos

Villaricos, a charming, traditional fishing village although having grown in size over the years very much maintains a traditional Spanish flavour.

The village is located at the foot of the Sierra Almagrera Mountains. Villaricos (rich village derives its name from ancient silver mines, which have their place in history, as it is from here that Hannibal paid his mercenaries when he besieged Rome).

Luis Siret was an important local figure in archaeology back in the late nineteenth century, there is a park named after his family in Cuevas del Almanzora and a beach in Villaricos opposite El Mar La Mar, Playa Del Luis Siret. In October 2007 El Mar La Mar had the pleasure of hosting the wedding of Freddy Siret.

Villaricos

Fishing and Tourism are the foremost sources of income. With its wonderful climate, mild winters and brilliantly hot summers always complemented with a pleasant Mediterranean Sea breeze.

There is a choice of two beaches in Villaricos, a pebbled stretch that meets the village and the neighbouring untouched golden sandy beach which boasts a stunning secluded bay.

El Mar La Mar is perfectly positioned for incredible views of the Mediterranean and village below.

The Village boasts two harbours, conveniently located at each end being connected by a promenade providing beautiful views out to sea, with seating provided at regular intervals making it an excellent place to relax and contemplate from which bar to order that next ice cold beer or tinto de verano hopefully with El Mar La Mar always top of the list.

Famous for its crystal clear warm waters and perfect diving conditions with a local diving school.

Just beyond Villaricos is a rugged undeveloped coastline where you can relax in peace and solitude amongst the rock pools.
